GC Renovation - Finished Photos

It's great to show you the finished GC Unit after an intense 5 or 6 weeks prior to Christmas!

I've included some Before photos so you can see the huge changes!

"After" Dining and Kitchen
Walls have been re-painted in Dulux Lexicon Quarter.  A new Artichoke style pendant light fitting, along with black glass panelled table and replica Bellini chairs give the room a totally fresh look and compliment the new kitchen and improved view with the arched doorway and wall removed.

The finishes for the kitchen as pictured include 600 x 600 white floor tiles with a fabulous shimmer, White Mist reconstituted stone for the kitchen bench top and vanity tops, and the kitchen splash tile is "Fango Sand". The Kitchen Laminate is Snowdrift Gloss.

Wall tiles are Son of Olive Lappato with the same White Shimmer floor tiles throughout.  The in-wall cistern toilet was selected to give the bathroom a more streamlined feel.

Renovation Central

There's been no time for posts on the blog, I've been working flat out on two renovations and there's hardly been time for sleep!

We have made heaps of progress at the GC unit and we hope to be doing the final fitoff of the plumbing fixtures as well as the kitchen benchtop, splashback, painting and lights.

The Bathroom
The Ensuite
Last week we saw the tiling complete and new suspended ceilings in the bathrooms and the vanities installed.

The kitchen went in the week before and the feather finish ceiling, cornice and render was completed last week too.

A busy few days ahead so must get some sleep!  Can't wait to see the finished rooms....stay tuned!

Out with the Old and in with the New

It's been a busy few days, the bathrooms and kitchen have been "gutted" with all the fixtures and tiles being removed.

Kitchen is underway and is being installed next week and Tiles have started to be layed.

Living area tiles - I have chosen 600 x 600 Lappato from Amber Tiles in off-white

We have discovered asbestos lagging to the copper pipework in the walls which has caused a few days delay.  But we've hired the professionals to remove it and the works will be able to recommence.

Renovators beware of asbestos in older buildings such as this one which is circa 1979/1980.  Do not remove asbestos yourself, hire a contractor who is licenced for asbestos removal.

Stay tuned for more renovation pics!

Main Beach Unit

The flu has not been kind to me or the kids last week but I'm back on deck and getting a design together for a client in Main Beach.  The work is going to take place later in the year but we want to get all the details nutted out so we can order everything and get it installed in a short time frame.

The client has some criteria which will be a challenge to meet - tight budget, robust design for holiday tenants and most of all looks fantastic!  So going with these guidelines here's some pics which I am looking at which are giving me some direction and inspiration for renovation of the bathroom/ensuites.

Whilst the client doesn't have the luxury of large space, I really love the stark contrast of this Metricon bathroom from their Lindrum display home.

This is a classic look - great use of fresh but subtle tones.
