White kitchens to make you green with envy!

The painting of my house is going a little slower than I would have liked with all the wet weather we've been having so here's some kitchens to ogle over!

I love this all white kitchen with dark timber floors and black granite benchtop just stunning! A good mix of contemporary and victorian style. (love the old style pendant lamps) image Tholdhouseonline.com

This is the kitchen that inspired my post while flipping through another favourite magazine of mine Inside Out. This design is contemporary in white but warmth has been added by the Smoked and Lime Oak doors and floor. Design by Templeton image by Sharyn Cairns. Checkout the Bonus Kitchen and Bathroom Book from the March April edition of I.O.
So how to decide on the kitchen you want?

A quick tip - Break the kitchen into elements

  • Appliances (reuse or new?)
  • Benchtop
  • Splashback
  • Cupboards & Drawers
  • Display/Shelves
  • Layout
  • Budget
  • Your Style Contemporary, Country, Modern, Vintage, Retro the list is endless!
Then look at the finishes you like, the must haves, the nice to haves and forget about what you wouldn't use! Collect images of all of the styles and finishes to the elements that you envisage in your final design.

You're then armed ready to take in as many kitchen showrooms as you desire with your homework already done.

A kitchen designer can help with innovations and layout, so your new kitchen looks great and is highly functional for your needs.

LCD can help with updates or renovations to your existing kitchen or help you plan the kitchen of your dreams or a budget conscience kitchen.

The Brisbane Homeshow is on this weekend and might be a good place to start if you're planning a new kitchen.

Have a great rest of the week!

Wish List #3 Dining Chairs that make a statement!

Wish #3 Dining Chairs

I was out at dinner the other night and fell in love with these Dining Chairs!  I would love to use them on a future project.

I found these black plastic Camelia chairs at Interior Express
Replica  Philippe Starck Louis Ghost Dining Chair available from Life Interiors
I have had a few visits to Ikea recently with all my spring cleaning and I really like the Tobias chairs available from Ikea.  The chair is made from clear plastic and it replicates the concept of the extremely popular Ghost Chair, with the exception that they have chrome legs, and a more retro shape. I've included a picture of both chairs.  Either chair would look great paired with a rustic timber dining table.

And here's some I just love because they're slick and sassy!

Now here's some great looking Dining areas with modern style.

A similar style chair to the Tobias on display at okbnetwork.com

Modern chairs team with this modern glass table with a twist note the ornamental turned legs! Love it!  This image and the one below really make a statement! Image homes-interior.com

I am in the midst of a spring clean! Walk in Robe Envy

I decided to attack my walk in robe at home and so there's been little time for posting!  I have pretty much removed the contents which was starting to overcrowd what little space was left including hubby's guitars and I'm now rearranging and had most of it complete before last weekend....(I'm still sorting through all the things that didn't belong in the cupboard in the first place and finding new homes for them)
Having great storage is really the key to having a wardrobe you can find things in EASILY! Whether it be shoes or a belt or a fave item of clothing - a nicely organised wardrobe is heaven for us girls with a passion for fashion or a shoe fetish!
The Malm comes in a variety of sizes and colours.  Fairly easy to put together!
We had started to out grow the space because my fabric collection for "future" projects was starting to take over this area along with the musical equipment so I'm reclaiming it!  I've gone with some simple storage from Ikea - a chest of drawers and some storage boxes for my cube style shelving.
The Lekman from IKEA comes in a variety of colours
So now here's some pics of some "ideal" wardrobe's if only there was more room for one in my house - a girl can dream!

This is a wonderfully designed robe by German company Raumplus on the Architonic website
Calling all the single ladies! A wardrobe you'd sell your favourite pair of shoes for - Carrie's closet from SATC series

Carrie's all grown up and married to Big in the movie SATC2 and I have to say this would be heaven at my place! I love the bench seat in the middle. It's spacious and stylish with plenty of room for his or hers!
