Having trouble choosing the Colours for your home?

Let LCD help you through the myriad of colours choices available for painting the interior or exterior of your home or office!  Little Cove Design makes colour selections from all of the reputable paint companies and doesn't specify from only one paint manufacturer.

If you need help to narrow down the search, a new app is available from Dulux called the Dulux Colour App and you can read more about it by clicking on the link below.

                                                                Dulux Colour App

I would rate this App an 8 out of 10.  It gives you a large number of colours to browse through in the Dulux range, you can search and tag your favourite colours. You can also visualise the colours on exterior and interior images. The capture tools allows you to colour match existing paint colours in your home or surroundings but the one feature that's missing is the ability to visualise or recolour images of your own.

But that's where LCD can provide a personalised colour consulting service for you.  Read more about it here.....LCD Colour consulting on our new look blog.

Enjoy the colour in your life and if you feel like a change contact LCD for a detailed colour selection report.

Renovation Blitz

October was a busy renovating month with a few new projects kicking off and some coming to a close.

I'm also excited as the painters arrived at my place  last week to paint the high side of my house and those rooftop gables; and they finished yesterday, yippee!

Take a look at our newly painted abode!

More before and after's to come! Just to refresh your memory the weatherboards are Dulux Natural Stone, Sunhoods in Antique White USA and Window Trims and Gutter in Ironstone.
So while I've been working on new and old projects I've spied some Inspiring things along the way to share with you!

This is a gorgeous eclectic blend of girly part-embroidered flower wallpaper, rose gold pendants, traditional timber table and modern simple white kitchen and floating staircase! image Fromental

Armadillo & Co. have a very swoon worthy rug collection!  They also offer a designer service for rug patterns to be made in a large colour pallette. To see their full range go to armadillo-co.com
Sometimes there's something you just have to have! This is the sloane coffee table from Coco Republic.  It would definetly sit pride of place in my dream house!

Sometimes it's worth saving for that one signature piece and then you can find items that you have or that are more inexpensive and they help you to create the theme and your room will evolve from there!

Planning for Spring it's just around the corner!

It's a great time to start thinking about freshening up your home with Spring just a few days away.

Open shelving is a great way to store and display your favourite things! image vi.sualize
It might be just giving your rooms a good once over dusting and rearranging shelves, or treating yourself to something new and bright.

Brisbane's Thea & Sami have great bright hand printed fabrics and these gorgeous cushions would brighten any room!
It's also a good time to paint before the summer wet weather sets in.

I've recommended Dulux design rust paint to a client recently.  This paint is suitable for interior and exterior use.  It's applied in two parts firstly the base coat and then the rust solution by brush only.

For more information go on Design Rust paint go to Dulux

The paint would give a similar finish to this gate from Lump

Big Reveal My Painting is Complete!

I've finally finished all of my painting with just a few touch ups required here and there! But I'm calling it a day with the front and back of the house complete as I've got a little busy with work and will call in the professional painters now to finish off the sides of the house.  I will appreciate all their hard work so much more after completing all that painting myself!

I can now reveal the front of the house before and after with a bold change - a red front door!

                           Before                         After

I chose Bristol Gloss "Adam's Red" for the front door colour. To get a deep rich colour took about 4 coats but I'm very happy with the result. The door frame and architrave is Dulux Antique White USA.

The main wall colour (weatherboards) is Dulux Natural Stone and the window sill/trim, and threshold is Gloss "Ironstone" (standard Colorbond colour) and the windows are Dulux Antique White USA like the Door frame.

                            Before                                       After

Little Cove Design can provide you with a professional colour consulting service and advise selections from all of the reputable paint manufacturers available. So take a look at the colour page on our blog for more details.

I made some cushions from the same fabric as the table cloth from a few weeks ago and treated my plants to new red fibreglass pots and now I can relax and enjoy all of my hard work!

Reveal for the entertaining area out the back is a few weeks away, stay tuned!

One woman painting a house!

Yes you read it right!  I have taken on the crazy challenge of one woman (ie me) painting the house.  My outdoor makeover just wouldn't have the same wow factor without a change of colour so I've decided to start with those walls and go from there.  It will also allow us to live with the new colour which I love btw before finishing off the rest of the house!

So here's some before pics (I didn't choose the original house colour fyi)......

All sanded and washed down ready for painting!

And here's the nearly finished product.
Here's the new colour 1st coat!  I have chosen Dulux Natural Stone for the main weatherboard wall colour, Antique White USA for the Windows and Ironstone for the trims.

A little sunny but two coats done and just the window and trim to finish off and the new colour has made a dramatic difference.
Now whilst I'm optimistic about doing as much of it as I can, I don't think I'll be climbing the roof to paint the faux dormers so I may have to call a painter in for that, but I'm going to give the rest of it my best shot!

So once the window and trim is done then it's back to prep (sanding and washing down of the next wall!)

I'll be posting my progress throughout the months fitting in around my busy family and worklife and hopefully the pictures will speak for themselves!

The key to an exterior makeover - a fresh paint colour

Gotta love the lifestyle channel! I enjoy this channel when I'm on holidays and I can always find something interesting to watch particularly my fave show Grand Designs! This article on the Lifestyle Channel website shows a colour change for the exterior of this home that has turned drab to fab! Colour is, I would say the most important element in this example. If you get the colour scheme right, then that can be the key to a successful design and makeover project, Well done!

Increase the value of your home with paint - LifeStyle Channel
This image is from the Lifestyle Channel Website - Selling Houses Australia Extreme!  What a dramatic difference

Here's a house I worked on locally, which demonstrates how a whole new look can be created for a home with a few minor changes and a new coat of paint with a fresh colour scheme.
