Renovation Central
There's been no time for posts on the blog, I've been working flat out on two renovations and there's hardly been time for sleep!
We have made heaps of progress at the GC unit and we hope to be doing the final fitoff of the plumbing fixtures as well as the kitchen benchtop, splashback, painting and lights.
Last week we saw the tiling complete and new suspended ceilings in the bathrooms and the vanities installed.

Out with the Old and in with the New
It's been a busy few days, the bathrooms and kitchen have been "gutted" with all the fixtures and tiles being removed.
Kitchen is underway and is being installed next week and Tiles have started to be layed.

Ensuite "before and after" Demolition
Combinded Laundry and Bathroom "before and after" Demolition
We have discovered asbestos lagging to the copper pipework in the walls which has caused a few days delay. But we've hired the professionals to remove it and the works will be able to recommence.
Renovators beware of asbestos in older buildings such as this one which is circa 1979/1980. Do not remove asbestos yourself, hire a contractor who is licenced for asbestos removal.
Stay tuned for more renovation pics!

Day 2 A Whole new view!
Very excited to see the brick arch and wall gone. It has really made the unit more spacious and the view is nearly 180 degrees!
Here's the wall coming down from start to finish
Today the kitchen and bathrooms are being gutted, more piccies tomorrow!
Sawcutting the brickwork in sections |
using a sledgehammer to knockout the brickwork |
We have unearthed some circa 1979 kitchen floor tile! |

Renovation Blitz
October was a busy renovating month with a few new projects kicking off and some coming to a close.
I'm also excited as the painters arrived at my place last week to paint the high side of my house and those rooftop gables; and they finished yesterday, yippee!
Take a look at our newly painted abode!
So while I've been working on new and old projects I've spied some Inspiring things along the way to share with you!
Sometimes it's worth saving for that one signature piece and then you can find items that you have or that are more inexpensive and they help you to create the theme and your room will evolve from there!

More before and after's to come! Just to refresh your memory the weatherboards are Dulux Natural Stone, Sunhoods in Antique White USA and Window Trims and Gutter in Ironstone. |
This is a gorgeous eclectic blend of girly part-embroidered flower wallpaper, rose gold pendants, traditional timber table and modern simple white kitchen and floating staircase! image Fromental |
Armadillo & Co. have a very swoon worthy rug collection! They also offer a designer service for rug patterns to be made in a large colour pallette. To see their full range go to armadillo-co.com |
Sometimes there's something you just have to have! This is the sloane coffee table from Coco Republic. It would definetly sit pride of place in my dream house! |

Collage of Prints
One of my most popular posts so far this year has been about framed collages on your wall.
http://littlecovedesign.blogspot.com.au/2012/06/frame-your-blank-wall-collage-of-frames.html
I have had a collage of this sort planned with some old frames for my daughters' room. So my school holiday project is complete and I can finally share this with you!
This is a really easy, effective and can be an inexpensive way to decorate a blank wall. You can inject your own personality into it by the frames and items you select to frame.
Firstly I took the tired old frames I had, and layed them out on the floor with other frames I intended on using for my wall.
I removed the glass and pictures from the frames and then I gave each frame a light sand with medium to fine sandpaper and then it was time to give them a paint. I used dulux one coat white and then I used acrylic paint to mix up a light blue and pink colour for some of the frames. I painted two coats to cover the previous timber/black frames but they still have a rustic look with the previous colour showing through in the grooves.

I painted two coats to cover the previous timber/black frames but they still have a rustic look with the previous colour showing through in the grooves.
I also had picked up an mdf "dream" word cutout from Spotlight which I painted the same blue as two of the frames. I measured the wall space and the frames to ensure my final arrangement would fit. I bought a window box frame from Myer on sale woohoo! for the dream word cut out, and a few smaller ornate frames from Big W to fill in the gaps.
The next most time consuming part was selecting photos of my daughters to fill the frames (too many to choose from!) and then using scrapbooking paper and matts for the backgrounds and surrounds.
I used a butterfly cookie cutter to make the butterfly motifs from scrapbooking paper for the window box frame, and double sided tape to secure the word cutout and butterflies.
You can then arrange your frames on the floor or cut out paper the size of each frame and blue tac on the wall (as in my previous blog post on the subject) to confirm their location prior to putting hooks in the wall.
I made some last minute changes as I hung my frames on the wall, but this is the finished product. Make sure you use the correct hook types for the type of wall and frames you are hanging.
My hardest critics were the girls but they are very happy with their photo wall! So if you've got some old frames lying around put them to good use or donate them to a charity store and someone else may spruce them up.

New Finds.....
I've been busy putting a submission together for a client but whilst I've been planning their renovation, I've come across the following great finds....
You can't help but notice the beautiful moroccon lanterns when going by Hamimi in East Brisbane.
New store That's Unique in East Brisbane has great homewares and furniture!
New Couch envy! For the outdoors I love the cool grey resin wicker and striking blue stripe cushions of the Airlie Collection.
I really adore the colour and look of this velvet Moran three seater available from David Jones.
Don't forget to keep up with more great finds on our Pinterest. LCD's digital scrapbook on the go!

This has a lovely cosy warm feel due to the rug and woollen blanket with the sun streaming in the large windows. image designlike |

While this interior has a lot of white like the first "Wintery" daybed picture, this interior has warmth due to the lattice print cushions and upholstery, the natural coloured matt and timber floor. |
Florals will give you a Spring look every time. I love the blue and white combination of floral lattice wallpaper, and floral wallpaper lined cabinet image yvonnehellier.com |

Planning for Spring it's just around the corner!
It's a great time to start thinking about freshening up your home with Spring just a few days away.
It might be just giving your rooms a good once over dusting and rearranging shelves, or treating yourself to something new and bright.
It's also a good time to paint before the summer wet weather sets in.
I've recommended Dulux design rust paint to a client recently. This paint is suitable for interior and exterior use. It's applied in two parts firstly the base coat and then the rust solution by brush only.
