Winter is here again!

We might not all have a snow-capped mountain view from our living rooms, but we can still create a warm and cosy space to spend our Winter days and nights.

Fireplaces like this one are suitable for outdoor rooms image restorationhardware.com find a similar firebowl at Australian supplier gstore.com.au
Cushions can create the mood your looking for. Knits, sequins or velvet texture in brights or neutrals.  Start your search at one of the many online home ware stores or at aurahome.com.au where this neutral grey palette is given some spark with a tad of yellow.

Rugs can bring warmth and interest to a room and a welcome place to laze, walk upon and are much warmer under foot.  They come in so many designs it can be hard to choose.  Choose a rug that will suit the use of the space, fall within your budget and are practical for cleaning (ie. a white rug is not suitable in a children's play room!)  They can be stored in Summer when it's too hot. (QLD readers!) I have many more rugs and cushions pinned on my Pinterest page so stop by and take a look.

Dream Update!

My kids were back to school this week after the Easter holidays and so it's back to work for LCD.  We've got a few new projects coming up and I'm always imagining more changes to make at home.  So that's why Pinterest is such a great tool for designers, would be renovators and those planning a room makeover.  It allows you to collect ideas on anything!

I'm sharing some things I love, for a dream update at home!

Inspirational Sights

Hello All,

I've been off the blogosphere on a fantastic and much needed holiday!  I was lucky enough to go O.S. with my family to Asia and it really was so much fun!

Our first week we spent in Singapore and the standout on the skyline was the Marina Bay Sands Hotel.  I just couldn't stop taking photos of it!

The resort was designed by Moshe Safdie Architects and includes the striking Lotus shaped ArtScience Museum.

There is a fantastic view of Singapore from the 57th floor (we had breakfast in the Skybar) and of the newly completed Gardens by the Bay.

Guests can enjoy the amazing infinity edge pool

There was also the classically English Raffles Hotel, with its colonial style quite a contrast to modern Singapore.

Esplanade - Theatres by the Bay houses a concert hall and theatre. The aluminium sunshades give these buildings and unique look which is known as "The Durians" to locals as it resembles the durian tropical fruit.

Next stop was Phuket, and we were lucky enough to stumble upon a stunning restaurant on Kalim Beach called The White Box.  Great food, stunning restaurant, views and lovely people working at the restaurant, what more could you want on holidays!

After a relaxing week of swimming and sunshine it was off to the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong.  The stunning skyline radiantly lit by night is a spectacular sight!

I can't wait to bring you more inspiring places & decorator items I love - so stay tuned to the blog, pinterest and facebook.

GC Renovation - Finished Photos

It's great to show you the finished GC Unit after an intense 5 or 6 weeks prior to Christmas!

I've included some Before photos so you can see the huge changes!

"After" Dining and Kitchen
Walls have been re-painted in Dulux Lexicon Quarter.  A new Artichoke style pendant light fitting, along with black glass panelled table and replica Bellini chairs give the room a totally fresh look and compliment the new kitchen and improved view with the arched doorway and wall removed.

The finishes for the kitchen as pictured include 600 x 600 white floor tiles with a fabulous shimmer, White Mist reconstituted stone for the kitchen bench top and vanity tops, and the kitchen splash tile is "Fango Sand". The Kitchen Laminate is Snowdrift Gloss.

"After" Bathroom and Laundry
Wall tiles are Son of Olive Lappato with the same White Shimmer floor tiles throughout.  The in-wall cistern toilet was selected to give the bathroom a more streamlined feel.
